Making Peace with Change

Making Peace with Change
By Lauren Nicole Mills

Change” has become a huge buzzword over the past few years. But what does it really mean to you? One thing in life that is certain is that change happens whether we like it or not and sometimes when we least expect it. We live in a society that expresses mixed emotions when it comes to dealing with change; similar to the way we are taught to deal with death. In many cases change and death are synonymous. To change often means that one way of doing something has to die so something new can take its place. We want to welcome change but unfortunately many of us have experienced pain and we associate that emotion and or physical discomfort to the process of changing.

So the bigger question is, how do we make peace with change? How do we welcome it and make it empowering instead of painful? I have devoted the past ten years of my life to what I call the “wellness revolution” in search for the answers to all the above questions. As much as I love to help people, my initial quest began as a self-inquiry. I needed to know for myself how I could embrace change. I quickly realized that the body and brain are interconnected physically, emotionally and I dare say spiritually as well. You cannot work on one aspect without affecting the “whole” unit. My studies have helped me experience and understand the powerful dynamics that can take place when you recognize and honor the connection. I have learned when you take the time to work on how you mentally think about things and address the wellbeing of the physical body, fear of change and the unknown dissolves and there is a greater congruency with life.

Some of us wonder why we cannot change fast enough or why we find ourselves repeating the same old cycles. With the onset on the new millennium, affirmations and positive statements have made the their way into the mainstream and help us be aware of how we speak and think. This is wonderful, however many of us have found that no matter how many times we said or read that affirmation we were still experiencing the same results but with a better attitude. Determined to unlock the mysteries of my own mind I took the opportunity to intensely study the power of hypnotherapy and learned how the subconscious mind is in control about 88% of the time! No wonder why the process of change can be so challenging!

Today I have experienced amazing results using hypnotherapy and other tools like EFT (emotional freedom technique). When I integrate bodywork and movement therapy into the equation, my own process of growth and change has taken me to even deeper levels of awareness and expansion. Using the same methods, I have witnessed my clients overcome limiting beliefs and blossom into lives they have always wanted for themselves! I have learned ways to help myself, and others make peace with change and I can help you. It takes commitment to change willingly and it takes courage to be open to change. If you are ready to make a change and need help or guidance I know that my services can be a valuable resource for you.
